Santa Clarita, CA, August 10, 2013– Happy Feat Running Club announced their inaugural half marathon training challenge “Summer Half Marathon Challenge” at Santa Clarita’s Central Park.

The running challenge is a 13-week progressive training run, designed to get people to complete their first half marathon.

Training schedules for the 13-week program will be handed out on the first run and runners are responsible to follow the training guidelines based on their past running experience.

Happy Feat Running Club will also be supporting the runners by organizing weekly runs in the evenings several times a week. Specific training dates are to be announced.

“Topics such as hydration, pacing, and heat acclimation will be the highlights of this summer’s program” says founder Raul Engle.

Further running education workshops will be provided such as running-based strength training and proper stretching techniques for pre and post runs.

Runners will also be provided with evenly spaced “hydration stations” throughout the run course. Post run refreshments and snacks will also be provided at each weekend “long” run.

Prior to each successive training run, tickets will be handed out for a chance to win running equipment and related prizes, such as gift certificates to running stores and for a massage.

Happy Feat Running Club is a non-profit organization, founded in 2011 by Raul Engle in Santa Clarita, California. The organization provides free training programs for full and half marathons to people in the Santa Clarita and San Fernando Valleys. Their mission is to provide people, of all ages, safe, educational, rewarding and fun running programs that will provide a healthier quality of life.

Admission to this event is free of charge, but donations are welcomed.

If you would like more information about this topic, please contact Raul Engle at Happy Feat Running Club Inc. or email at happyfeatrunning@gmail.com.
