lasd_scvstation_pressrelease_badge[KHTS] – Coroner’s officials are investigating a suspected suicide at a home in the 26700 block of Iron Canyon Road, near Sand Canyon Road in Canyon Country, authorities said Monday.

Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s deputies responded to a home around 7:15 p.m. because a resident, who had just returned from vacation, suspected someone was inside the house.

“An informant came home and thought there was somebody inside of the house,” said Sgt. Plazola of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

Initial reports indicated shotgun shells and lit candles greeted the homeowner when the homeowner came home from vacation.

The homeowner then left and called 911, according to initial reports. Deputies established a containment of the area to search for a possible suspect, he said.

After deputies began their investigation, a dead body was later discovered at the scene, officials said.

The homeowner was uninjured. Sheriff’s Homicide officials were not available to release any information about the relationship between the person who reportedly committed suicide and the homeowner.

The identity of the body has not been released pending the notification of next of kin, according to officials.

Homicide detectives were contacted around 11 p.m.

Sheriff’s Station officials could not confirm any details of the crime scene.

Homicide officials did not release any initial information Sunday night. The scene was still under investigation Monday.

  13. Homicide doesn’t go out for anything but deaths. It’s their job to make sure it is treated as a crime until they rule it out. That is so no mistakes are make.

  14. This writer needs to be fired.

Homicide detectives and the county coroner are investigating the gunshot death of a man whose body was found inside a home on Iron Canyon Road late last night, a spokesman for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station said today.

“We’re treating this as an apparent suicide of a male,” said Lt. Fred Corral of the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Department. “He is a gunshot victim.”

Coroner investigators were called to the 26700 block of Iron Canyon Road early this morning, Corral said, adding they are trying to contact the victim’s next of kin.

Samta Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station Sgt. Tom Bryski said questions about the death would have to be answered by the detectives assigned to the Homicide Bureau.

Shortly before 8 p.m., deputies responded to reports of a burglar inside a home on Iron Canyon Road, according to Sgt. Cortland Myers.

“The homeowner came home and found some evidence of a burglary,” he told The Signal late Sunday night.

Deputies remained at the house for most of Sunday evening but no details were disclosed about their activities there.

Sgt. Albert Playzola told The Signal after 11 p.m.: “They (deputies) have reason to believe that someone is in there. They do have it contained.

“Time is on our side. We’re not going to rush this,” he said at the time.

Signal Staff Writer Ryan Fonseca contributed to this report.

  24. Tana says:

not to be rude but did anyone actually read the article before posting here? It CLEARLY states, a body was found, the homeowner was not injured, and no relation between homeowner and person who commitef suicide. It also states that body has been identified but name will not be released until next of kin is notified. The article was clear, and full of information. The law offices are NOT who look stupid here… Just saying!

  25. Nadiya says:
