How can College of the Canyons best use a $919,811 state grant to expand its offerings of career and technical education (CTE) programs to a wider audience?
COC recently received a grant from the statewide Doing What Matters initiative that funds California community colleges to increase the number of students enrolling in CTE classes and enables workers to upgrade their skills to compete for today’s technology-based jobs.
Receiving this grant is a unique opportunity, and to ensure we make the most of it, COC is drafting a regional strategic plan that will address the most urgent CTE and workforce training needs in northern Los Angeles County. And that’s where you come in.
We need your input to shape the strategic plan. Join us at a special stakeholder meeting to share your perspective on how College of the Canyons can respond to the needs of local business and industry through the Doing What Matters initiative.
The event will be held from 9 a.m. to noon, Monday, October 17 at the Hyatt Regency Valencia. Light refreshments and a hosted lunch will be provided.

If you need more information, please contact Diane Hollems at diane.hollems@gmail.com.
We’re also gathering input through an online survey. So, if you can’t attend the stakeholder meeting, review the draft strategic plan, and then share your feedback here: www.research.net/r/sccrcplan.
