A Canyon Country man and his girlfriend were arrested on separate charges after the woman hit the man’s father with a metal baseball bat early Thursday morning, according to officials from the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.
“Deputies responded to an assault call about 2:30 Thursday morning and apparently a dad and his adult son had gotten into an altercation,” said Shirley Miller, SCV Sheriff’s Station PIO.
“The girlfriend allegedly took a metal baseball bat and struck the victim with it, so deputies arrested her on an assault with a deadly weapon charge,” Miller said.
“Then the deputies found that the adult son was on parole and had a no-bail warrant issued due to a parole violation, so they arrested him on the warrant,” she said.
The victim was treated at the scene by responding paramedics and did not require hospitalization, Miller said.
The names of the two men were not immediately available. Miller identified the woman as Janel Cartier, 21. Cartier was booked at the SCV Sheriff’s Station and bail has been set at $80,000.
