Space is still available for a free, all-day recruitment workshop where participants will learn more about training in the field of aerospace and industrial manufacturing being offered through the Santa Clarita WorkSource Center and College of the Canyons. The workshop is scheduled for Friday, Sept. 27, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and participants must be pre-registered to attend.

Community members interested in a career in aerospace and industrial manufacturing are encouraged to reserve their spot today for the workshop, which will be held at the College of the Canyons Dr. Dianne G. Van Hook University Center, Room #107, located at 26455 Rockwell Canyon Road.

Training is being offered through a partnership between the Santa Clarita WorkSource Center and College of the Canyon’s Fast Track Institute.  The Institute provides fast-paced, intensive job preparation programs for job seekers looking for an opportunity to quickly jumpstart their career.  The CNC Machinist training course for aerospace and industrial manufacturing is a 280 hour, 7-week course taking place October 7 through November 22, 2013 and selected participants must be available for all classes.  Classes will be held Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.  The course fees are $3,500, which is inclusive of the materials fee, but this fee may be waived for eligible candidates identified as part of the recruitment.

Basic computer skills, reading for information and applied mathematics assessment at WorkKeys Level 4 are required of interested applicants.  Job seekers are encouraged to dress to impress, have multiple copies of their resume, and be prepared for on-site interviews.
