The Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health will host a free Health & Awareness Fair for youth and young adults on Tuesday, Jan. 20, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Pacoima City Hall, 13520 Van Nuys Blvd.
At the fair, at-risk youth and young adults can find out about programs and various services that can assist them with employment, education and self-sufficiency, including assistance with housing, tattoo removal and help for substance use.
Under the care of Los Angeles County, more than 25,000 transition-age youth (TAY) clients – at-risk youth and young adults – received county services last year alone. And each year, about 1,100 youth age out of the County’s care and enter the community as young adults.
Some have adequate resources while others do their best to find their way. Many of these teenagers and young adults risk becoming vulnerable to dangerous situations such as drugs, homelessness and child prostitution. They are unaware of the free resources and programs available to help get them back on their feet, off the streets and away from trouble.
At-risk youth and young adults are encouraged to attend this free Health & Wellness Fair to empower themselves with useful resources and information.
Sponsors: Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health, Hillview Mental Health Center, Providence Faith Community Health Partnership, The Village Family Services.
