The third annual LA Summerfest opens this weekend with two great events for the family: The Latin Music and Cultural Festival and the Americana Folkfest. Both events are great family fund and include music, dancing, vendors, food trucks and are free for the entire family.
The LatinMusic and Cultural Festival is a new event for the Summerfest. Opening the festival on Saturday July 11th from 3 pm – 9 pm, the event is a fun day of performances, vendors, music and dancing. The festival is free and open to all and includes a processional by Danza Ocelotl Cauhuitl (Traditional Aztec Dancers), colorful traditional performance by Ballet Folklorico Santa Clarita, and a world premiere of a new short play by Crezca Teatro Comunitario.
Also at the festival will be D’Wilfri DanceArt and Entertainment performing and giving a group Salsa lesson. Afterwards, everyone can party and dance with world-renowned East LA band Buyepongo. Food Trucks La Panini Grill and Surfer Taco will be at the park, and beer & wine served by the VU Bar & Lounge. The event is produced in association with De Mi Suenos Cultural Arts Program.
Sunday is the second annual Americana Folkfest with a full day of great folk, acoustic, and bluegrass music, including: Kelly’s Lot, Leslie Beauvais, Susie Glaze & The Hilonesome Band, and a crowed favorite ~ John Zipperer & Friends. Master of Ceremonies is Michael Keesler. Food Trucks Romolo Cuisine and HomeRUN Sliders will be there, with a bar provided by VU Bar & Lounge. There is also a Quilting show by the SCV Quilters Guild. The FOLKFEST is Sunday 3-9 pm and is also free for the entire family.
Bring a chair or blanket and have a great day in the park. The LA Summerfest is an eclectic summer cultural festival held at the Rivendale site in Towsley Canyon.
