Updated Friday, Jan. 1 at 11:00 a.m.

A woman was killed in a crash Thursday afternoon at the intersection of Plum Canyon Road and Golden Valley Road in the Saugus area.

The 30-year-old victim was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Lt. Robert Hahnlein with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

The crash was reported at 1:26 p.m., said Inspector Chris Reade with the LACoFD. People were initially trapped in the vehicles involved.

When deputies arrived on scene, it appeared between four or five cars were involved and some occupants of the cars were fighting, said Deputy Jason Godecke, acting watch sergeant for the SCV Sheriff’s Station said Thursday.

Two patients are listed in moderate condition and two patients are listed in minor condition, Reade said. One moderate patient was flown to Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital by helicopter.

Lived on the road for years and used to be awaken at least once a month in the middle of the night because of major accidents! People need to slow down!

  5. Juan Vallejo says:

You can see a bunch of memorials down that street. We need more law enforcement to patrol the area.

  6. This has been a deadly intersection since its inception. So sad for these families ☹

  7. RIP & my heart goes out to the family & friends of the ?

  8. Damn.. So sad… I can only assume the driver was going fast downhill towards plum on GV and ran the red lights on those streets right before plum..

  9. Heartbreaking praying for all!

  10. Kira Hodge says:

Holy cow. That is crazy. I live a few blocks from there.

  11. Josh says:

The speed limits need to be enforced, and the timing on these lights needs to be corrected. The fact that the yellow going from Golden Valley to Santa Catarina is incredibly short and that people travel in excess of posted limits on Plum results in an unusually high number of accidents at this intersection. I live up the street and drive through there daily, its always sketchy.

  13. Saying a prayer for my friends and their family in this accident.

  14. Geri Bryan says:

So tragic. Sounds like road rage might have been involved? Occupants of the vehicles were fighting even after the accident?!?
    WTF!?!
Rest in Peace to the one lost life and may the others heal quickly and look at life differently in 2016. ??????

  15. People need to SLOW DOWN!!!

  16. OMG – this is horrible. We take this road everyday. Yes, everyone needs to slow done. Peace, Prayers & Blessings.

  17. Today cutting through neighborhood going home just north of crash.

  18. A kid in a brand new truck traveling north towards plum canyon on golden valley rode my bumper so much and then got pissed off because I was going the speed limit then went around me almost clipped me making me almost crash. It was horrible and very scary. And it was at the same intersection ??

  19. Stacy Brown says:

    Still investigating. Roads still blocked.

    God bless those involved.

  20. That’s weird no one said anything about speeding involved? Maybe people need to keep their negative comments to themselves.

  21. Dam that’s not a good way to start the new year . ?’s to there family’s .

  22. James Torp says:

We need more lights for one and two get off there lazy asses and do something about Vazquez rd how many Pollocks does it take to get cameras down there to see what’s going on

  23. This breaks my heart. Prayers for everybody involved in one way or another.

  24. John Gilbert says:

We should be allowed to shoot darts with a flag that say’s “Ass Hole” at offending vehicles. And when the cops see the vehicle with multiple flags on the vehicle, they can pull it over and give the driver a ticket for driving like an ass hole.

  25. Matt Kelly says:

I have read this article 3 times. Where does it say speed was involved? Reports from other news agencies are indicating the person ran a red light.

  26. Ruth Oro says:

Just around the corner from our complex here in Bordeoux. So devastating. I drive to that intersection every night or day I come home. We take the back gate when we go out all the time since they open GV road.

  27. Kelly Gragg right by your old house

  28. I haven’t seen Sheriffs monitoring speeds in this city for years. Not sure what they do.

I have live near this corner for years and almost every week there is an accident in that corner, some very tragic just as in a few other choice spots in the city, something needs to be checked, a family member and I where talking about it just 4 days ago, whether is light lag or even the need for extra lights, it is now far too many dead. For me it was an absolute nightmare, for personal reasons, I now pray for all who where involved in this accident.

  33. Lu says:

She was my cousin :( is there more information from this accident??

  34. My family was involved in this accident, is there any further information?

  35. Trisha Gomez says:

Sad. My condolences to the family who lost a loved one

  36. I was told her 7 year old boy was killed as well…does anyone know if this is true? ?

Getting your license is a joke. When I got mine in 05 we had an extensive written test and a challenging driving test. My friends brother just got his license and they didn’t even make him do a 3 point turn or a U turn.

  42. Karra Ann says:

Does anyone know the victims names? Or have they not been released? This kind of stuff scares me to even take my kids anywhere.. Prayers to the families of all involved!!
