1940 - NYC premiere of "The Marines Fly High" starring Lucille Ball, filmed in Placerita Canyon [story] Marines Fly High

lamesaDue to the impact firefighting resources have had on the campus of Golden Valley High School, all remaining summer school classes at the school will be moved to La Mesa Junior High School beginning Tuesday morning, July 26 through Friday, July 29.

La Mesa is located at: 26623 May Way, Santa Clarita, CA 91351.

Start and end times for both sessions will remain the same:

Session 1:  7:00-9:30

Session 2:  9:45-12:15

Full food services will be available at La Mesa. Parking is limited and carpooling is strongly encouraged.

For a list of teacher room locations at La Mesa, as well as a bus schedule, please go to hartdistrict.org.

Students who normally use public transit to get to summer school will be provided with Hart District bus transportation (yellow school busses) to/from their normal bus stops.

We recognize that this change is inconvenient and we appreciate your patience and cooperation as we work together with our emergency responders to protect our community.

If you have any questions, please feel to contact Golden Valley’s Summer School Administrators via e-mail:

Ms. Debbie Bricker (dbricker@hartdistrict.org)

Ms. Kerry Riccio (kriccio@hartdistrict.org)

wshusd_solarThe Sand Fire has had an impact on several Hart District facilities. Golden Valley High School is being used as the Command Post for multiple agencies fighting this devastating fire, and the Red Cross is using Hart High School as an evacuation center. Because of this, a few summer schedules have been impacted.

The volume of traffic and amount of personnel make the early morning a very congested situation at Golden Valley. Summer school will operate on Monday, July 25, however, first period will not meet.  Attendance for first period will not be considered as an absence.  Summer school will begin with 2nd period at 9:45 am.  Drop off time should be no sooner than 9 am for students.

Upon arriving at Golden Valley, all staff, students and parents will be directed to the drop off and parking areas.  Parking will be at a premium, so carpooling is strongly encouraged.  Our main lot is off limits and you will not be allowed entrance.

All athletics, band and performing arts camps at Golden Valley have been cancelled for Monday. Until we get specific guidance from AQMD, all outdoor activities at ALL of our campuses throughout Santa Clarita will be proceeding with caution. We encourage you to contact your advisor, directors and coaches for more specific information.
