A head-on collision Sunday night on Highway 126 in Ventura County resulted in the death of a 15-year-old girl from Bakersfield.
The girl was riding in a 2006 Dodge Magnum driven by another juvenile, a 17-year-old boy also from Bakersfield. Their names were not released due to their age.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the Magnum was traveling eastbound at 7:05 p.m. and had just passed the Little Red Schoolhouse between Fillmore and Santa Paula when it drifted into westbound lanes. It headed directly into the path of a Chevrolet 3500 work truck driven by Rocky Edwards, 53, of Exeter.
The two vehicles collided nearly head-on and both spun out of control. Debris hit an Audi A4 driven by Jorge Arroyo, 22, of Piru.
The 15-year-old passenger was pronounced dead at the scene. The 17-year-old and Edwards were transported to the Ventura County Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries. Arroyo was uninjured. Westbound traffic lanes were closed until midnight.
