An armed woman who barricaded herself in a Castaic mobile home for nearly four hours Wednesday is now in custody.

The suspect voluntarily exited the back of the residence in the 27700 block of Parker Road around 1:40 p.m. armed with  a gun in her waistband and was detained by deputies without incident.

[KHTS] Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station officials are trying to resolve a standoff situation with a suspected armed woman who is suspected to have a mental condition in a Castaic mobile home park.

santa-clarita-deputies-castaic-standoff-kidnapping-suspect-43220Deputies responded to a reported kidnapping involving the female suspect who allegedly took a man hostage at gunpoint at the 27700 block of Parker Road. The incident was reported to Sheriff’s Station officials around 10 a.m. Wednesday.

“Deputies are working as hard to resolve the issue without anyone getting hurt,” said Deputy Josh Dubin of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

Deputies are asking residents to avoid the area while they work on a peaceful resolution, he said.

A Special Weapons And Tactics team is on its way to the area, and the nearby homes have been evacuated for the safety of those who live nearby, Dubin said.

The woman allegedly held the victim at gunpoint, however, the victim managed to escape without being hurt. The alleged victim reportedly did not know the suspect, officials said.

The female suspect, whose identity was not released, is now believed to be alone in a mobile home inside the mobile home park.

No one has been injured and there are no children involved, Dubin said.

The man whom the suspect allegedly kidnapped was not harmed.

Initial reports indicated the woman might be suffering from mental illness, however, those reports have been unconfirmed by Sheriff’s Station officials.
