On April 9, the John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation announced the recipients of its prestigious Guggenheim Fellowships, which are awarded to mid-career individuals “who have demonstrated exceptional capacity for productive scholarship or exceptional creative ability in the art.”

Four CalArtians are among this year’s 175 fellows. They are:

* Miyoshi Barosh (Art MFA 89), whose work is on view at the Los Angeles Municipal Gallery at Barnsdall Park, as part of the the COLA 2015 Individual Artist Fellowships Exhibition;

* Photographer Miles Coolidge (Art MFA 92), whose art subjects blur the line between architecture and landscape;

* Visual artist Victoria Fu (Art MFA 05), whose work was included in the 2014 Whitney Biennale; and

* Filmmaker Akosua Adoma Owusu (Art-Film/Video MFA 08), whose 2007 short film Intermittent Delight will be on view in the Whitney Museum of American Art’s America is Hard to See, the museum’s first exhibit since moving to their Renzo Piano-designed building in Manhattan’s Meat Packing District.
