Another round of the Caregiver Bootcamp is set to begin Thursday, Oct. 16, at the Santa Clarita Valley Senior Center, 22900 Market Street in Newhall.

Also, a new nutrition and healthy living class begins Thursday, Oct. 23, at 9:30 a.m. The class will meet four times and will be held in the multipurpose room. Taught by a registered dietician, the group will focus on promoting specific eating and physical regimen that has been proven to improve health and well-being.

About Caregiver Bootcamp
Caregiving is an emotionally charged, often difficult experience. This 8-week course, “bootcamp” inspired, will boost class members with intensive and supportive information and practices as well fresh perspectives and replenished energy. The course will be facilitated by Stephanie Sauer, MSG, Care Manager. Throughout Stephanie’s professional, educational and personal life, she has gained deep insight into caregivers.
Here is a small sample of the topics covered in Caregiver Bootcamp:
* How can we realistically identify what is normal versus not normal in aging?
* What are the best methods of fall prevention/home safety?
* What immediate, practical solutions help caregivers overcome negative thought patterns?
* Why every caregiver should be prepared with proven strategies for engaging in difficult conversations with others?
Caregiver Bootcamp begins Thursday, Oct. 16, and meets for eight sessions (skipping Thanksgiving week and ending Dec. 11). The class meets in rooms A1/A2. Donations to help cover the cost of materials are appreciated.
