Sue Nevius of La Quinta Inn and Suites passed the gavel to Curtis Woods III as the Santa Clarita Valley Chamber of Commerce installed its officers for 2016 and honored local businesses at a gala dinner Friday night in Valencia.

Woods, general manager of Eternal Valley Memorial Park and Mortuary, takes the reins after joining the chamber’s executive committee a year ago. An L.A. native with a degree in economics from Cal State Northridge, Woods will be leading an executive team that includes Nevius, John Milburn of COC, Bridget Bowes of The Walt Disney Co., Nancy Starczyk of Southland Regional Association of Realtors, John Musella of Chiquita Canyon, Brian O’Connor of Princess Cruises and Terri Crain, the chamber’s president and CEO.
The annual installation doubles as a recognition dinner for standout business that serve the Santa Clarita Valley.
This year’s award for Small Business of the Year went to Nola Aronson’s Advanced Audiology, a provider of care and treatment for hearing loss.
Winner in the Medium Business category was 24/7 Events, a full-service party and event rental company whose services include luxury transportation, entertainment and corporate event management.

The Large Business of the Year award went to Whole Foods, which operates a grocery store in Valencia specializing in natural and organic foods.
Also honored were Betty Wynn, Chamber Ambassador of the Year; business consultant Lee Watters, Special Achievement; and Marlee Lauffer of Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital, Chairman’s Award (from Nevius).
Rounding out the 2016 SCV Chamber board are Lois Bauccio, Ingrid Blanco, Russ Briley, Alethia Calagias, Steve Chegwin, Steve Cole, Marisol Espinoza, Monica Harrison, Brian Higgins, Elizabeth Hopp, Stacie House, Bob Jensen, Bill Miranda, Patrick Moody, Marlon Roa, Sandy Sanchez, Anya Smilanick, Doug Sutton, Mike Van der Goes, Tony Watson, Jeffrey A. Hacker and Jason Crawford (ex-officio).
