The city of Santa Clarita has been, and continues to be, committed to helping those experiencing homelessness in our community. Thanks to a planning grant from the County of Los Angeles, the City hired a research group to develop a comprehensive solutions plan to address and combat homelessness. After nearly three months of research, meetings and interviews, a draft of the Community Plan to Address Homelessness has been completed.
The public has an opportunity to weigh in on the plan and be part of the solution. The draft is available for review and comment now, through Wednesday, Aug. 22. This plan outlines a community approach and highlights the need for collaboration to make a true and lasting impact on homelessness.
“This plan represents the culmination of months of work and discussions involving the key service providers in our community,” said Councilmember Cameron Smyth. “Reading through the draft of the plan, it is very evident that this is not something the City can take on alone. This plan requires buy in and support from dozens of non-profits, faith based organizations, school districts and more. By coming together and committing to these action items, we will be able to make significant progress toward helping those experiencing homelessness in Santa Clarita.”
“I am thrilled to see the great strides our City, and community, have made toward helping our most vulnerable neighbors,” said Mayor Pro Tem Marsha McLean. “We recently purchased and transferred $1 million worth of land to Bridge to Home. This land is adjacent to the property where the temporary shelter currently is, and provides enough space for a new, permanent, year-round shelter with resources, services and the help and support our homeless so desperately need.”

The address homeless@santa-clarita.com does not work.
We have been passing bills etc. for funds for the homeless for at least 10 years, and the only thing that has been done is meetings upon meetings which is ridiculous. Is this where the funds that were set aside went? Sunland/Tujunga was given eight million dollars yrs. ago for the homeless, and never heard if anything was ever built, just meetings. Downtown Los Angeles is upgrading all of the city bldgs., but nothing for homeless except maybe a few trailers? Looks like this is just a way to raise extra money and the homeless are still homeless.
why is it still being addressed? it takes money plain and simple….monies have been given countless, in millions and where does it go? something is very fishy , as ann riddle mentioned above ….its going to the rich peoples pocket not for the homeless ….i think we should investigate this money from the past before another silly meeting …when has a meeting been productive?
ok so one million is for the new bridge to home…lets see how long that last…you can build things but what keeps it going? will a million be needed how often?
