The city of Santa Clarita and the Los Angeles County Department of Public Works will co-host a pair of advanced Smart Gardening workshops at two local Santa Clarita Library branches in August and September.

The workshops are part of an effort to promote environmentally friendly ways to maintain a personal garden.

For advanced gardeners with a green thumb, the advanced workshops will include tips on organic gardening, landscaping with native, drought-tolerant plants and integrated pest management.

The workshops are set for the Canyon Country Jo Anne Darcy Library (18601 Soledad Canyon Rd., Canyon Country 91351) on Saturday, Aug. 24, from 10 a.m. to noon, and the Valencia Library (23743 West Valencia Blvd., Valencia 91355) on Saturday, Sept. 28, from 10 a.m. to noon.
