COC Foundation Celebrates Fundraising, New Members

The College of the Canyons Foundation hosted its annual Board Installation Dinner at the Sand Canyon Country Club on Tuesday, June 18.

The meeting provided an opportunity for the Foundation to celebrate the wrap up of the two-year First-Year Promise campaign by raising more than $500,000, two months ahead of schedule.

The program, now known as Canyons Promise, was created by the college to enhance student accessibility and remove the financial burdens and barriers that prevent students from pursuing higher education.

In addition, the Foundation welcomed and installed five new board members: Amanda Benson (Ask Amanda Small Business Solutions); Heather Duncan (Producer/Director, Three Leaves); Sharlene Duzick (Member Services Director, Henry Mayo Fitness Center); William Harwood (Engineer, Lockheed), and Ed Masterson (SOS Entertainment).

Established in 1987, the COC Foundation is a non-profit auxiliary organization that generates philanthropic support for the Santa Clarita Community College District. The Foundation is governed by a Board of Directors, which is made up of volunteer community and business leaders who are committed to making a difference in the Santa Clarita Valley.
