[KHTS] – Santa Clarita Valley’s nonprofit organizations are invited to the 10th annual Meet the Grant Makers event June 5, hosted by College of the Canyons Office of Grants Development officials.

COC_logo The event will feature a panel presentation and seminar offering nonprofits the opportunity to learn how to enhance their fundraising efforts and see their organizations thrive, according to a COC news release.

“We invite every non-profit organization staff member in the region to the Meet the Grant Makers program,” said Theresa Zuzevich, director of grants and development at the college. “Having this type of direct access to organization representatives, with the ability to ask questions and share ideas on the spot, will be an extremely beneficial experience.”

Attendees will have the opportunity to meet other nonprofit foundation representatives, learn more about the funding interests and philanthropic activities of grant-funding organizations, learn how to build meaningful relationships with organization representatives and develop a better understanding of how to seek and receive grants, event officials said.

The panel presentation will focus on current giving priorities, as well as targeted and precise grant requests.

Featured panel speakers include S. Mark Taper Foundation Grant Director Adrienne Witenberg, S. Mark Taper Foundation Program Officer Gabrielle Burkard and California Community Foundation Program Director of Health Care Denise Tom.

Representatives from more than 30 Santa Clarita nonprofit organizations are expected to attend, giving attendees the chance to network with other nonprofits and create a potential for future partnerships and collaborations, according to the news release.

Admission to the event is free, and a free parking pass will be given to attendees who RSVP in advance. Those who do not register beforehand must purchase a one-day parking pass for $2 from one of the college’s parking lot kiosks.

Meet the Grant Makers is scheduled from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on June 5 at the COC University Center, Room 258, located on the college’s Valencia campus.
