Santa Clarita Valley Boys & Girls Club “Youth of the Year” Lluvia Partida was among the young people vying for regional “Youth of the Year” honors at the annual Los Angeles County Alliance for Boys & Girls Clubs award ceremony at The Novo Theatre in downtown Los Angeles Tuesday night.
“While she did not win our regional competition, we are proud of the two youth from Antelope Valley and Pasadena who will go on to represent Los Angeles at the state level in Sacramento in April,” said Matthew Nelson, SCV Boys & Girls Club executive director.
The 2018 “Youth of the Year” co-winners were Tracy Jimenez from the Antelope Valley club and Thomas Macedo from the Pasadena club.
County Supervisor Katherine Barger and Deputy Supervisor Anders Corey presented the winners with an official county acknowledgment/scroll. Both winners are from Barger’s Fifth Supervisorial District.
The award ceremony included an inspirational speech delivered by Jonathan Franklin of the Los Angeles Rams and a musical performance by popular Radio Disney group Forever in Your Mind.
Among the event’s hosts were KABC News Reporter Anabel Munoz and Peyton Elizabeth Lee and Joshua Rush from the Disney Channel’s hit series “Andi Mack.”
“It is great to be part of a larger network of organizations making a difference in communities around LA,” Nelson said.
Partida will continue to speak on behalf of SCV Club members at this month’s City Council meeting and at Zonta’s upcoming “Women in Service” event.
