05/01/17

Burglary (Vehicle) – 25200 block The Old Road
Person(s) unknown smashed the rear window of his vehicle and stole numerous ‘Craftsman’ brand tools and tool bags. Total loss was $694.00.

Burglary (Vehicle) – 25200 block The Old Road
Person(s) unknown smashed the rear window of the victim’s vehicle and stole two suitcases containing various items of mens’ clothing. Total loss was $2,100.00.

05/03/17

Grand Theft (Auto) – 25200 block Steinbeck Ave
Person(s) unknown stole the victim’s 2016 Ford Fusion sedan which had been left unlocked and unattended with the keys inside. The vehicle was later recovered at on the street located near 24500 block Windsor Drive. No arrests have been made.

Petty Theft (from Vehicle) – 26100 block Ohara Lane
Person(s) unknown stole an alarm fob (which controls the alarm system to her home) from her unlocked vehicle. Total loss was $100.00.

05/04/17

Burglary (Vehicle) – 25300 block The Old Road
Person(s) unknown entered the victim’s vehicle and stole his ‘Beats’ headphones, bicycle gloves, stereo amplifier, and 12” subwoofer. There were no signs of forced entry, however the main ground wire to the vehicle had been cut, which disengaged the alarm system. Total loss was $990.00.

Rape by Intoxication – 26000 block Bates Place
A sexual assault incident is currently under investigation by Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Department detectives.

Grand Theft (Auto) – 26800 Cottonwood Court
Person(s) unknown stole the victim’s unlocked red 2014 Jeep Cherokee SUV. The victim stated one set of the vehicle’s keys are missing.

05/06/17

Burglary (Vehicle) – 25300 block The Old Road
Person(s) unknown entered the victim’s vehicle and ransacked the interior. No items were taken. The victim stated his vehicle was locked. There were no signs of forced entry.

05/08/17

Burglary (Vehicle) – 25300 block The Old Road
Person(s) unknown smashed the rear window of the victim’s vehicle and stole two golf bags containing 23 various golf clubs. Total loss was $4,800.00.

05/10/17

Burglary (Vehicle) – 25100 block The Old Road
The suspect smashed the passenger side window of the victim’s vehicle and attempted to open the door. The suspect was detained by the victim until deputies arrived and arrested the suspect for burglary.

05/13/17

Burglary (Vehicle) – 25300 block Chiquella Lane
Person(s) unknown smashed the front passenger side window of the victim’s vehicle and stole his backpack containing a GoPro camera with accessories, various clothing items, and various papers. Total loss was $887.00.

Petty Theft – 24900 block Pico Canyon Road
A male adult took a Samsung Smart Watch from the display and exited the store without paying. No arrest was made. Total loss was $299.00.

05/14/17

Burglary (Vehicle) – 25400 block The Old Road
Person(s) unknown smashed the passenger side window of the victim’s vehicle and stole her jacket, wallet, and medication. Total loss was $450.00.

Tip of the Week: Would You Keep Your Money in a Glass Bank?

Would you ever consider keeping your money in a bank with no vault and surrounded by glass walls? Most of us would surely say ‘no’. But the fact is, when we leave high valued items in our vehicles, that’s exactly what we are doing. Vehicles are not a reliable and safe way to secure money, computers, cell phones, purses, back packs, or any high value item. When these items are left in plain view, a thief needs only to smash a window to gain access and take the item. We are then not only inconvenienced by the loss of the item, but we will also have to deal with repairing our vehicles. Whenever the opportunity allows, take all high valued items with you whenever leaving your vehicle unattended. If this is not an option, leave the items in the trunk and out of view.
