Prospective students submitted more than 760,000 undergraduate applications to California State University campuses for admission in fall 2014 – the largest number of applications ever received by the 23-campus system and an increase of two percent over the previous year.

The number of unique students submitting applications approached 284,000 – an increase of nearly ten percent from two years ago.  Five campuses – Fullerton, Long Beach, Northridge, San Diego, and San Luis Obispo – each received in excess of 50,000 applications for admission.

“The value of a CSU degree continues to resonate with hundreds of thousands of Californians as the number of applications to CSU campuses continues to increase,” said Ephraim P. Smith, CSU executive vice chancellor and chief academic officer.  “To help meet the demand, CSU campuses have instituted a number of innovations including the CourseMatch program that makes key courses available to any student and frees up seats for additional students.”

As CSU campuses continue to look for ways to increase access and completion for students, additional courses have been added to CourseMatch.  For the spring 2014, more than 40 fully online courses will be available for students from across the system.  CourseMatch enables students to enroll in online courses at other CSU campuses with the course units earned counting toward degree completion at the student’s home campus.  Since launching in December with the courses available for the spring 2014 term, the CourseMatch website has received more than 18,000 visits.  For a listing of courses available through CourseMatch, [click here].
