user28194-1394654727-media4Santa Clarita Valley sheriff’s deputies conducted a late-night saturation patrol operation Tuesday using patrol vehicles, bicycles and T3 electric standup patrol vehicles on the paseos, trails and streets throughout the City of Santa Clarita. The operation began at 6 p.m. and extended into the early morning hours.

The purpose of the operation was to address some community concerns and to send a clear message to anyone considering using the paseo systems for unlawful purposes such as loitering, alcohol consumption, drug use, or to commit acts of vandalism.  “The T3 vehicles the city provided really help us navigate the paseos, bike paths, and residential neighborhoods,” Deputy Josh Dubin said. “And the fact that they’re essentially silent until we turn the siren and forward-facing red lights means we can usually catch any criminals in the act, as we see them before they see us.”

user28194-1394654720-media1During Tuesday night’s operation, deputies observed, contacted, and detained several people including juveniles and other individuals on or near the paseos and in city parks.  The detentions occurred at various times throughout the evening and involved those who were involved in suspected unlawful activities.  When last night’s safety and enforcement operation had concluded, the following were detained and either cited or arrested:

Three adults (one male, and two females) were detained in a parked vehicle on the 25800 block of Tournament Road after a deputy spotted one of the occupants smoking marijuana inside the vehicle.  After an investigation, all three occupants were issued citations for possession of marijuana.

user28194-1394654725-media3A 39-year-old male was arrested on Town Center Drive for an outstanding felony “no bail” arrest warrant.

A 25-year-old male was contacted on the 20400 block of Valencia Blvd.  He was issued a citation for possession of marijuana.

A 36-year-old male was arrested in the area of McBean Parkway / Gamble House Way for felony possession of concentrated cannabis.

A male was issued a citation for loitering in a city park after deputies discovered he had previously been smoking marijuana in the park.

A 15-year-old male was cited for curfew violation, possession of tobacco paraphernalia, and loitering in a city park after closing hours.  He was released to his parents.

A 17-year-old male was issued a curfew citation; he was later released to his mother.

A 30-year-old female was arrested on the South Fork Trail / Magic Mountain Parkway for two outstanding misdemeanor arrest warrants.

user28194-1394654723-media2Our deputies and special teams, both in uniform and undercover, are commonly utilized to patrol the paseos and surrounding terrain at undisclosed and random times throughout the year to ensure the safety and serenity of Santa Clarita’s more than 20 miles of picturesque trails designed for bicycle commuting and recreational use.

Current and similar operations and others just like it will continue throughout the year to ensure our residents have the safest possible paseo access to parks, entertainment venues, and shopping centers throughout the City of Santa Clarita.  Criminals who choose to break the law and are caught will be arrested.

The amount of spelling errors in your reply make it seem like you have some experience with hard drugs if they do indeed fry up brains! Next time you post absurd statements try backing them with sources and facts instead of simply stating opinions.

It was nice to see them out on their T3’s today.

  4. James Parker says:

Glad they got all that dangerous marijuana off the streets. People were dying left and right from all its danger.

Sounds a lot like “Stop and frisk.”

sounds a lot like the gustapo

    • Its sad that the Santa Clarita Sheriffs get away with assault and felony’s left and right. This department is corrupt and has its own gang within its own dept. They beat inmates inside the booking area. Then leave and harass people walking down the streets. Notice most of the arrests were for outstanding warrants. Guaranteed there was no probable cause to search these people to begin with. If you are not law enforcement that would be considered harassment. SCV is Sherriff ran. #corruptsheriff #sherriffgang #dontdelete

  6. Camryn Lee says:

So cruising up to random ppl walking and testing them…?

  7. Camryn Lee says:

I’d be pretty damn upset if the came up to me on a paseo trying to do a breath test…

  8. Jon Mogey says:

Sad they bust all these kids for smoking the “devils lettuce” when kids in this town are over dosing off of their parents prescription pills and heroin. Great job!

I had them do an illegal search on me cause I was sitting in my car on the side of the road. Came up and assumed I was doing something wrong… saw I had a gym bag and a suitcase in the back (I usually stay a few days away from home at a time due to driving distance) and they asked to search my car. I denied their request and asked what their probable cause was. He laughed saw a set of “protech” (foam practice) nunchucks and used that as an excuse to handcuff, detain and illegally search my car. Guess what…. NOTHING was found and I was let go. I USED to wanna be a cop but hypocrisy has swayed me otherwise. I knew my rights and STILL had them violated. Watch yourselves

  31. Wes Granberg says:

I read the article and to have that much force used for so little seems like overkill. Do they really need those electric scooters, I would be happy peddling a bike instead. They must be getting good pay at the department for that operation.

  32. Dasy Carol says:

I love Santa Clarita’s Sheriff Department

  33. Sure are glad that these weren’t around when we were young teens! #trouble

  34. There is a lot of activity in those paseos

  35. It amazes me how much BS I read. I left SCV 5 years ago after joining the Marine Corps. Recently moved back and yes, this is good. So many of our SCV teens are headed towards the wrong path and if this is not enforced who will? The parents? Yeah right, parents let them do whatever they want. I agree that they don’t need to invest so many personell but kids in SCV need crap like this. If I offend anyone I apologize in advance but I stand by my words.

  36. Sheri Dale says:

Glad they can patrol the places that some walkers and joggers are being attacked!

  37. Gonzalo Pleites yes your right on what you’re saying… however the sheriff’s dept take it a step further. The sheriff’s out there are also breaking the law left and right. They are not above the law. But get away with breaking it. The do illegal searches every day. We need police to police the sheriff’s. They do not protect and serve. They harass to make the numbers. I moved away and have never has a problem with traffic tickets and I’m able to sit in my car parked without being harassed.

  38. I respect the sheriff department in Santa Clarita, and always have – but this line made me laugh. “The purpose of the operation was to address some community concerns and to send a clear message to anyone considering using the paseo systems for unlawful purposes such as loitering…”

  39. Blake Frye says:

Wow, they busted someone for ditching school (a.k.a. Truancy)

What an awesome use of time…

  40. Really? Spending the community’s money to go out of your way to bust people smoking weed and tobacco and for staying out too late? You’re really protecting citizens from dangerous activity. So glad I left the SCV.

  41. Conor Doyle says:

Why bother patrolling the paseos when the real trash is right below in the wash. If the sheriffs of SCV wanted to do something useful with the tax dollars they would patrol the wash off of McBean and boquet. They should be more concerned about illicit drug use and firebugs, not a 15 year old with tobacco.

  42. This is going to be the funniest thing to happen to Instagram and snap chat in scv…yessss ahahahahahah

  43. stop wasting my tax dollars on your play toys you silly pigs

  44. Cause a Segway will be faster than a human… Lol wat a waste

  45. Wow.. literally most of these people got busted for marijuana.. why dont you take the time to find the people that are ACTUALLY negatively impacting our community? You disgust me SCV Police.

  46. Kyle West says:

Lmao those T3 things are a joke. They should just stick to bikes and get some exercise while they do it, huge waste of money

  47. kids are dying left and right from parents prescribed drugs and heroin, and you are wasting your money on scooters thats going to catch kids ditching school to smoke weed. why don’t you actually make this city a safer place and find real criminals? this makes me sick

  48. Tom Dehn says:

Our tax dollars at work. 《《FACEPLALM》》

  49. Hahahah oink oink pigs. All your missing is the free donuts for your fat mobile scooters! Retards. Wasting our hard earned money
