Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station deputies arrested a woman suspected of grand theft and a man suspected of unsafe bicycling while under the influence in Stevenson Ranch on Wednesday, according to authorities.
Here’s the story from the station’s Facebook page:
“Deputies made a few arrests near The Old Road (Wednesday) night.
“Around 4 p.m, a guest staying at one of the hotels accidentally left her backpack containing her iPhone and credit cards on top of her vehicle. As soon as she realized it, she went back and it was gone.
“Responding deputies investigated the matter, and were able to locate the suspect, a woman in her 40s, and recover the backpack with its contents.
“The suspect was arrested on grand theft charges.
“Around 8 p.m. deputies saw an adult male riding a bicycle on The Old Road and he was all over the place crossing lanes.
“Deputies made contact with him regarding his unsafe bicycling and realized he was under the influence of a controlled substance.
“The 40-year-old man, a transient, was arrested on narcotics charges and transported in a patrol car, along with his bike, to our station.
“Lessons learned – don’t take things that don’t belong to you, and bicycles, like cars, should only be operated when you are not under the influence.”
