LOS ANGELES – Following their season-long 11-game road trip, the Dodgers returned home this week for a six-game homestand, which includes matchups with the Arizona Diamondbacks (May 8-9) and Cincinnati Reds (May 10-13) as well as Alumni Weekend presented by Security Benefit (May 11-13).
The Dodgers will honor the 30th anniversary of the 1988 World Series champions during Alumni Weekend, with 16 members of the ’88 club expected to participate in the weekend’s festivities and the Alumni Game presented by Security Benefit on Saturday, May 12 at 4:00 p.m. Fans are encouraged to arrive early Saturday for Alumni Batting Practice starting at 3:10 p.m. (when gates open) and throughout the weekend for autograph and photo opportunities with Alumni at Dodger Stadium entrances on the Left Field Plaza, Right Field Plaza, Club Level, Stadium Club and Left Field Reserve prior to games on Friday (7:10 p.m. vs. Reds) and Sunday (1:10 p.m. vs. Reds).
Members of the 1988 club expected to attend include coach Joe Amalfitano, Dave Anderson, Tim Belcher, coach Mark Cresse, Mike Davis, Rick Dempsey, Kirk Gibson, Jose Gonzalez, Mickey Hatcher, 1988 World Series MVP Orel Hershiser, coach Ben Hines, Ricky Horton, Jay Howell, manager Tommy Lasorda, Tim Leary, coach Manny Mota, Alejandro Pena, Bill Russell, Steve Sax, John Shelby, Franklin Stubbs and John Tudor. Alumni Weekend will also feature appearances by Ron Cey, Tommy Davis, Darren Dreifort, Al Ferrara, Steve Garvey, Shawn Green, Jerry Hairston Jr., Rick Honeycutt, Jay Johnstone, Eric Karros, Sandy Koufax, Kenny Landreaux, Rick Monday, Don Newcombe, Dave Roberts, Jerry Royster, Reggie Smith, Derrel Thomas, Fernando Valenzuela, Jose Vizcaino, Maury Wills and Steve Yeager.
The homestand also has great promotions, including an installment of the 60th Anniversary Collector’s Card Set: The 80’s presented by 76 tomorrow, a Justin Turner Walk-Off Home Run Bobblehead presented by State Farm on Wednesday, Friday Night Fireworks presented by Denny’s, a 60th Anniversary Cap presented by Security Benefit on Saturday and a Mother’s Day Cosmetic Bag presented by Cedars-Sinai as well as Kids Run the Bases on Sunday.
The Dodgers will also host three special event theme nights with Teacher Appreciation Night on May 8 (sold out), Mexican Heritage Night on May 10 and UCLA Night on May 11.
