Dr. Steven Lavine
Dr. Steven Lavine, President of California Institute of the Arts, will be the honoree at the LA SummerFest’s second annual Induction to the Court of the Lord Chamberlain, which recognizes local patrons of the arts.
The dinner and ceremony, will be held July 10 at Rivendale in Towsley Canyon.
“For centuries, the Lord Chamberlain has been the symbol of arts patronage for kingdoms, countries, and communities. Each year we honor a special person in our community: someone that has made a significant contribution to the arts in Santa Clarita, to our organization, and the festival,” according to a statement from SummerFest producer David Stears, executive director of the Santa Clarita Shakespeare Festival.
Last year’s inductees were Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich and then-Mayor Laurene Weste.
The event will include dinner, dessert, wine and a special preview of the performances for the summer.
“Additionally, as part of the honor, we select a special project in the name of our honoree,” Stears said. “This year, our project a Student Scholarship Fund, for stipends and scholarships for our local college students studying a career in the arts.”
