Guidepost Montessori at Copper Hill officially opened its doors to the public Tuesday. The school welcomed nearly 20 students for a successful first day of learning and fun.

“We’ve been preparing for this day for many months,” said Emily Strand, head of the school. “And it was truly gratifying to be able to open our doors and welcome the families of Copper Hill.”

Guidepost Montessori at Copper Hill serves children ages 6 weeks – 6 years in three distinct programs—the Nido, Toddler, and Children’s House. A defining feature of the school is its Spanish-immersion option, offered for children in the Toddler and Children’s House programs.

The campus is located in the serene environs of Southern California Innovation Park, conveniently located just 3 miles from the Newhall Ranch exit of the 5 freeway. The building was expertly constructed by Intertex Companies.

The school is the 39th Guidepost Montessori school to open, and the first in Los Angeles County. The organization is partnering once more with Intertex Companies to construct a second location across the Santa Clarita Valley at Plum Canyon. That campus is scheduled to open in Spring 2020.

Founding members of the teaching staff are Cynthia Vallejo, Kylie Godfrey, Stephanie Garcia, Shanni Chen, Wendy Pineda, Arely Silva, Maria Acebal-Bernal, and Lauren Nelson. The leadership team is comprised of Emily Strand, Antho Zueck, and Martha Georgie.

Guidepost Montessori is operated by Higher Ground Education, an organization dedicated to mainstreaming and modernizing Montessori education. HGE operates more than 43 schools across the USA, Austria, and China.
