Progress was made at the site of the future Canyon Country Community Center this week as a billboard, previously located on the northeast corner of Soledad Canyon Road and Sierra Highway in Canyon Country, was dismantled and removed. Members of the Santa Clarita City Council hosted a brief event Monday morning, Sept. 24, to commemorate this milestone moment in the construction process for the new community center.
“We’ve heard complaints from residents in Canyon Country about the billboard on this corner, and we are happy it is being removed,” said Mayor Laurene Weste on Monday.
With the removal of the billboard, the entire site is now a clean slate for construction crews to begin the grading process. When complete, the new Canyon Country Community Center, which will move from its current location on Flying Tiger Drive, will hold classes, activities, programs and cultural opportunities for youth and adults. It will also host special community events and workshops that will provide for both personal and professional development.
Current features planned for the community center include a public park, a half-court basketball court, an outdoor event area, training kitchen and much more. The Canyon Country Community Center is now in the final stages of design and is scheduled to begin construction in the summer of 2019.

They got this billboard taken out WITHOUT allowing HUGE digital billboards along our freeways and changing the beautiful look to the entrance of our community. Good Job.
You should include lots of trees and a huge fountain with seating around it so when it’s 110 there is a nice place in the shade to sit.
You’re assuming the billboard company won’t be able to put it up somewhere else in Santa Clarita?
