Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital has once again been verified as a Level II Trauma Center by the Verification Review Committee, an ad hoc committee of the Committee on Trauma of the American College of Surgeons, hospital officials announced Wednesday.
The achievement recognizes the trauma center’s dedication to providing the highest quality trauma care for all injured patients.
Established by the American College of Surgeons in 1987, the COT’s Consultation/Verification Program for Hospitals promotes the development of trauma centers in which participants provide not only the hospital resources necessary for trauma care, but also the entire spectrum of care to address the needs of all injured patients. This spectrum encompasses the prehospital phase through the rehabilitation process.
Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital was first designated as a Level II Trauma Center in 1993 and is the only Trauma Center in the Santa Clarita Valley.
To obtain the certification, the hospital had to meet a very lengthy list of essential criteria confirming that Henry Mayo performs all procedures and protocols for trauma care.
“We are very proud to be a trauma care leader in our community,” said Dr. Larry Kidd, senior vice president, chief clinical officer at Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital. “This achievement is a testament to the dedication of our entire trauma team of nurses, physicians and support staff on their efforts to improve the health of our community through compassion and excellence in healthcare services.”
The Level II Trauma Certificate of Verification is valid for a period of three years.
Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital is committed to providing the highest level of care for patients and strives to exceed the expectations of those they serve, every day, every time.
