The City of Santa Clarita is home to companies, both large and small, that are revolutionizing the way business is done. From virtual reality advertising to handheld 3D mapping, Santa Clarita is an area known for innovation and will spend the next month celebrating it. The Santa Clarita Business Incubator will host Innovate Santa Clarita, a series of events in partnership with Los Angeles County Economic Development Corporation, the Small Business Development Center, and College of the Canyons, to highlight entrepreneurship and innovation.
Wednesday, October 12 will be an exciting evening as Engage SCV hosts Startup Pitch Day at the Old Town Newhall Library, located at 24500 Main Street. From 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., this networking and educational event will prepare existing and startup entrepreneurs to deliver a superior elevator pitch. The following day, on Thursday, October 13, the Small Business Development Center will host a discussion with Larry Twersky, CEO of TimerCap LLC, at the Santa Clarita Business Incubator from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. Twersky is an experienced entrepreneur who has founded multiple successful technology startups. He played a major role in turning 1-800-DENTIST into the largest and most successful dental practice marketing program in the nation. Twersky’s company, TimerCap, makes a patented ‘smart’ prescription cap which incorporates a built-in LCD timer that tells a patient how long it has been since the last dose of medicine was taken. A tech startup networking event will be held on Thursday, October 20 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Newhall Refinery, located at 24258 Main Street. A two-part business modeling series will be held on Thursday, October 20 and 27 from 9:30a.m. to 11:00a.m. at the Santa Clarita Business Incubator. Innovate Santa Clarita wraps up on November 4-6 with Startup Weekend SCV. Startup Weekend brings together software developers, designers and business-minded entrepreneurs to team up and build several new startups in just 54 hours.
