Open 2023 with an evening of laughs as The MAIN hosts its first production of the new year “Rembrandt Perfected,” a new comedy by Braddon Mendelson.
Tickets are on sale now for this award-winning production, which takes to the stage at The MAIN select nights from Jan 13-22, 2023.
“Rembrandt Perfected” imagines the story of two world-famous inventors, Louis Daguerre and Samuel Morse, as they work to uncover the identity of the first human ever depicted in a photographic image. In truth, the pair met in 1839 at Daguerre’s studio in Paris around the time the Frenchman produced one of his most famous daguerreotypes (an image created through the first publicly available photographic process).
In this particular image, which shows the Boulevard du Temple in Paris, a man is seen in the corner as his shoes are being shined though his identity is unknown. “Rembrandt Perfected” is a witty and fast-paced production about the duo’s outlandish scheme to track this man down. In 2022, this full-length comedy won Best New Play at the Long Beach Playhouse.
“Rembrandt Perfected” debuts at The MAIN on Friday, January 13, 2023 at 8:00 p.m. Performances will also take place Jan. 14 2 p.m. and 8 p.m., Jan 15 2 p.m., Jan 20 8 p.m., Jan 21 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. and Jan 22 2 p.m. Following the show, audience members will be able to examine authentic 19th-century daguerreotypes.
Tickets can be purchased for $20 per person. To learn more about “Rembrandt Perfected” and to purchase tickets, please visit the website.
