The California Department of Transportation will continue to close portions of State Route 14 on weeknights for a $6.6 million pavement rehabilitation project designed to improve the condition of the lanes and create a smoother ride for motorists.
Closures are scheduled nightly from Monday, Jan. 14 through Saturday, Jan. 19 from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m.
Closures may start and end later. All closures are weather-permitting and subject to change.
The project began Jan. 2 and requires closing two lanes on weeknights to facilitate a safe work zone to protect workers and motorists.
The project includes replacing concrete slabs, grinding, and striping along a 29-mile stretch on both directions of SR-14 (aka the Antelope Valley Freeway or Highway 14) between the Santa Clara River and Technology Drive.
Contractor Myers and Sons Construction expects to complete the project this spring.
Motorists should expect delays and are strongly advised to plan ahead, use alternate routes, and avoid the area. Additionally, motorists can check traffic conditions before they leave by visiting the Caltrans Quickmap.
