Hi Jolly's Tomb

Santa Clarita Encore Chorale’s spring rehearsals will start up again on Friday, Jan. 19, 2018,
from 4:00 – 5:30 p.m. at the Newhall Church of the Nazarene, 23857 The Old Road, Newhall, CA 91321 (near Calgrove and the I-5).

All current and new singers are invited to attend, sing, and make new friends.

New singers are invited to contact Conductor Cheri Walters at 661-347-3221 or cheri.walters@gmail.com, or Roberta Kessler at (818) 468-2285 or rkessler1367@gmail.com.

Encore Creativity for Older Adults was started by Jeanne Kelly on the East Coast in 2007 to provide an artistic environment for adults, age 55+, regardless of experience or ability, who seek performance opportunities under the direction of a professional. It is the fastest growing choral program for older adults in the country. There are twenty Encore Chorales in Maryland, Washington DC, and Virginia. There are also chorales in six other states. Our Santa Clarita Encore Chorale is the first one on the West Coast.

The chorale has two fifteen–week sessions beginning each fall and again in January (with weekly rehearsals in four-part singing) that conclude with public free performances in December and May. Singers are provided with choral music and CD’s for music from the American Songbook, Broadway, rock, spirituals, folksongs, etc.

Encore has summer institutes at Washington College in Maryland, the famed Chautauqua Institution in New York State, as well as summer “Singing at Sea” journeys aboard a cruise ship (often on European rivers). Encore is a non-profit 501 © (3) tax exempt organization, incorporated in Maryland, and governed by a volunteer Board of Directors. Santa Clarita’s local Chorale Conductor, Cheri Walters, has extensive experience, having conducted the Santa Clarita Living Christmas Tree Choir for twelve years.

Encore Chorales on the East coast have performed concerts at the John F. Kennedy Center, Nationals Park, the White House Conference on Aging, and been featured in U.S. News & World Report,
CBS Evening News, the Washington Post, Voice of America and over 400 national and international
newspapers (including our own Newhall Signal and monthly Santa Clarita Magazine).
