More About Kelly’s Lot
Kelly’s Lot weaves a variety of Americana styles on a blues and rhythm foundation. Led by singer/songwriter Kelly Z, the band Southern California band has released 14 CDs. The band has performed at countless concert venues and events across the United States and internationally in their 25 years together.
Kelly Z formed the band in 1994 and debuted at The Roxy on the Sunset Strip. Two years later, she met soundman Perry Robertson, who soon produced their “Live at the Troubadour” album. Kelly started writing songs with Robertson, who joined the band within a year, adding shades of Southern Rock and Texas music to the band’s sonic mix.
As a duo or trio, they have played at coffee shops, theaters and house concerts and in the last 15 years have fronted a band that’s well-respected on the American and international blues scene.
Among the major festivals Kelly’s Lot has played are Waterfront Blues, Simi Valley Cajun & Blues Festival, Ventura County Blues Festival, and the Nuits de Sologne and Lavaudieu Music Festival in France.
Kelly Z is now working on songs for a couple film projects while still grabbing some inspiration from her fans on Facebook.
Challenging them to look in their hearts and share just one word, she then challenges herself to chose a word and write a song in two hours. Perry Robertson, who shares the band leader title with Kelly Z, has recorded and produced most of the band’s music including “Can’t Take My Soul.”
