Update on Porter Ranch Gas Leak

I am very glad to hear that the Porter Ranch gas leak has been permanently sealed and that residents can begin returning to their homes. Now that the relief operation is complete, it is time to begin the process of recovering, investigating, and preventing crises like this one from ever happening in our communities again. My office stands ready to assist with the relocation and reimbursement processes, so give us a call at (661) 255-5630 or email us at https://knight.house.gov/contact/email.

Future of Flight

On February 12, the Committee on Science, Space, & Technology held a hearing and passed H.R. 4489, the FAA Leadership In Groundbreaking High-Tech Research and Development Act (FLIGHT R&D Act). This bill, which I introduced last week, would authorize the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to study and utilize improvements in aerospace technology with the goal of advancing aviation safety, security, and economic competitiveness. Research and development in aerospace means more jobs and more opportunities for our small businesses to flourish. For more information, please visit my website.

Stopping Cemex

I am very proud to announce that I introduced a bill that would prevent another Cemex-style mine from ever existing in Soledad Canyon. We have strong momentum on this issue, and I am confident that the Soledad Canyon Consistency Act would grant consistency, safety, and peace of mind to the people of the Santa Clarita Valley. More info here.

Porter Ranch Hearing Date Set

Last week the House Transportation and Infrastructure Subcommittee on Railways, Pipelines and Hazardous Materials announced that its members will honor my request for a hearing on the Porter Ranch gas leak and my legislation on February 25. This is an incredibly important matter, and I am pleased that my colleagues will examine it sooner rather than later. Visit my website for more information.
