On Saturday, members of The Master’s University women’s track & field program posted outstanding marks at the at the 2017 Westmont Classic w/ Jim Klein Multis on the campus of Westmont College in Santa Barbara.
Highlighting TMU’s performance was the quartet of Lady Mustangs (Morgan Pedrick, Ariana Sciarra, Rylee Bishop, and Mikala Fairchild) that competed in the women’s 4x800m relay. Collectively, TMU placed first overall in the event after finishing the race in 9:24.49, meeting the NAIA’s “A” standard along the way, qualifying to compete at the 37th Annual NAIA Women’s Outdoor Track & Field National Championships from May 25-27, 2017 at the Mickey Miller Blackwell Stadium, Gulf Shores, Alabama. Not to be overlooked, each Lady Mustang also set a lifetime best in the 800m.
“I am really proud of our girls!” commented Head Coach Zach Schroeder. “I’ve been so impressed by how hard these girls have worked. Months of hard work is really starting to show. They’re definitely ready for fast racing as we close out the regular season next month.”
Elsewhere, in the women’s long jump, TMU’s Tess Thompson set a new collegiate best after jumping 4.63m, placing 14th overall.
Finally, in the women’s pole vault, Madison Cole cleared 2.88m, nearing her collegiate best and tying for fifth overall.
Now, the Lady Mustangs look forward to next weekend where they’ll compete in the San Francisco Distance Carnival from March 31 – April 1.
