The Santa Clarita accounting firm of Condie & Wood CPAs will become Condie, Thomas & Harbo CPAs effective Sept. 1.

The move follows the admission of Jeffrey L. Thomas, CPA as a shareholder of the firm in January of 2012 and the admission of Heather A. Harbo, CPA as a shareholder beginning September 1st.

Condie said, “This is a confirmation of our position as one of the valley’s leading accounting firms.”

garycondieCondie is the founding shareholder of Condie & Wood and has over 40 years of experience in the public accounting industry. He started his career with Arthur Andersen & Company where he quickly excelled to the level of manager before leaving to start his own firm, Condie, George & Martin, CPAs. Condie also spent time in the private industry, both as Executive Vice President of Aquafine Corporation and President of A.M.E. Label Corporation, before forming Condie & Wood, CPAs. Condie has a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Brigham Young University and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, including its Tax Division, and the California Society of Certified Public Accountants. He has served as past President of the California Society of Certified Public Accountants’ Los Angeles Chapter and has served several terms on the Society’s State Board of Directors. Condie serves actively in the community, including time spent as President of the Santa Clarita Valley Boys & Girls Club, Founding Chairman of the Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital Foundation, Vice President of the Board of Directors of the Santa Clarita Valley Facilities Foundation, Member of the Board of Directors of College of the Canyons Foundation, and many other influential positions showing his dedication to the Santa Clarita community.

He has over 15 years of experience working in the public accounting arena offering audit, financial statement compilation, tax preparation and planning, and business management consulting services. Thomas is a graduate of the University of Southern California and is a licensed CPA in the states of California, New York, New Jersey and Utah. In addition to being a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, he is also a member of the California Society of Certified Public Accountants, the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants, and the Healthcare Financial Management Association. Prior to joining Condie & Wood, he was a Senior Manager with Grant Thornton, LLP and PriceWaterhouseCoopers, LLP, including two years spent in PwC’s National office. His community involvement includes currently serving on the University of Southern California’s Accounting Circle Board, College of the Canyons Foundation Board, and the Board of Advisors of El Nido Family Centers, California’s largest provider of parenting and family services for teen moms, dads, and their babies.

heatherharboHarbo joined Condie & Wood immediately upon graduating from the University of California at Los Angeles and has over 15 years of experience in the areas of income tax preparation and planning, sales & use tax preparation, business property tax preparation, and Los Angeles City Business Tax preparation. In addition to her broad tax experience, Harbo has an in-depth accounting knowledge in the areas of general ledger, payroll, bank reconciliations, management reports and realization analysis. Her experience also includes foreign financial reporting and preparation of Central Withholding Agreements for foreign individuals for filing with the IRS. Harbo is one of the firm’s leading sources of contact with both the Internal Revenue Service and Franchise Tax Board, having a high success rate in client dispute resolutions. Prior to joining Condie & Wood, Harbo worked as Regional Marketing Supervisor for Mark’s CPA Review supervising the Southern California marketing team and assisting college students in preparing for the CPA exam. Her memberships include the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the California Society of Certified Public Accountants.
