Zonta Club of SCV will install its newly elected officers and board members for the 2018-19 club year at its annual installation dinner Wednesday, May 30, at The Oaks Club (formerly the Tournament Players Club) in Valencia Westridge.
Debra Blakely, a former club treasurer and committee member who helped organize Zonta’s Lunafest, Women in Service luncheon and Celebrity Tribute dinner, will be installed as the new club president.
President-elect will be Barbara Meyer.
Other officers include Beth Heiserman, first vice president—programs; Phyllis Walker, second vice president—membership; April Schwartz, treasurer; and Nell Campbell, secretary.
Incoming directors will include Terry Kanowsky and Susan Hayward, elected for two-year terms, and Pat Warford, filling a one-year term.
Nominating Committee members include Darleen Lyons, Ronnie Erickson and Gloria Mercado-Fortine.
The evening also will include installation of Zonta Club of SCV Foundation trustees and presentation of the club’s Zontian of the Year Award. Outgoing trustees include Barbara Meyer, Adele Macpherson and Suzi Alziebler.
Incoming trustees include Debra Blakely, Terry Kanowsky, Barbara Meyer, Nell Campbell and Mary Ree. New foundation officers include Terry Kanowsky, president; Francine Feil, treasurer and Cathy Gundy, secretary. Other continuing trustees include Christine Sexton and Sue Hayward.
Zontian of the Year is given to an exceptional member who represents the club well in her Zonta activities as well as in her community service. The recipient is kept secret until she is announced at the club’s annual installation dinner.
The evening also will include drawing the winning ticket for a Princess Cruise. Tickets are $50 each, and the prize if a $2,500 credit on the winner’s choice from all of Princess’ cruise locations. The winner does not need to be present at Zonta’s installation in order to win.
