The fight against cancer once again calls upon Santa Clarita Valley residents to walk in support of a cure.
Registration to join a team for the 2013 Relay for Life is still going on at SCVRelay.org. Registration will be on-going even until the day of the event, or skip the lines and register this weekend at the Survivors Luncheon and Reception being held this Saturday, May 4 from 10am – 2pm at Westfield Valencia Town Center.
The reception will be held at the outdoor patio area, between El Caballero and Sears.
The Relay for Life of Santa Clarita will take place May 18 at Central Park, 27150 Bouquet Canyon Road.
The two-day event kicks off with the high-energy opening ceremony at 10 a.m., when the lives of those who have battled cancer are celebrated, hope is inspired with stories shared of progress and accomplishments and everyone is reminded that many are battling against cancer in an ongoing fight.
The Survivor Lap will take place while upbeat music plays as cancer survivors at the event take the first lap around the track, cheered on by other walkers who are there to help them celebrate their victory over cancer.
The day ends with the Luminaria Ceremony at 9 p.m. This is the time dedicated to the memory of all those who have been taken by cancer, those who still are battling with cancer, and remember all those who have fought against cancer in the past.
On May 19, the day starts with the Fight Back Ceremony at 9:45 a.m., followed by the Closing Ceremony at 10 a.m.
