The motorcyclist killed in a solo-vehicle crash Wednesday has been identified as an 18-year-old Stevenson Ranch resident, a California Highway Patrol officer said Thursday.
Around 10:48 a.m. Wednesday, CHP officers were en route to a traffic collision on Sierra Highway, north of Sand Canyon Road.
As they were driving westbound on Sand Canyon Road, toward Sierra Highway, they found motorcyclist Ethan Robert Goad lying against the guardrail on the north side of the road, west of Thompson Ranch Road, according to a report by CHP Officer Richard Byrod.
Goad had been traveling eastbound on Sand Canyon when he lost control of his 1997 Buell motorcycle, Byrod said. Goad was ejected from the motorcycle and both him and motorcycle slid northbound across the road.
The motorcycle hit the guardrail and slid onto the westbound side of the road, Byrod said. Goad slid into the guardrail and came to a stop.
When CHP officers found Goad, they immediately began rendering aid and called the Los Angeles County Fire Department, Byrod said. The officers were able to “establish a faint pulse and assist the ride in respirations.”
Goad was transported to Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital where doctors worked for 33 minutes to save his life, Byrod said. Goad was pronounced dead at the hospital.
Neither drugs or alcohol appear to be a factor in this crash.

Sad…
One driver witnessed the accident occur in front of her.
Andrea D., who asked for her last name not to be mentioned, saw the motorcyclist begin to lose control of his bike as she went around one of the bends on Sand Canyon Road.
“I saw him struggling with handlebars of the bike and I saw him starting to lose control,” she said.
Andrea D. said she saw the motorcyclist go onto the hillside and hit a dirt patch. The motorcyclist laid the bike down while it was moving and began sliding along the road, she said. Andrea quickly turned her car and swerved out of the way to avoid hitting the driver, who slid into the guardrails of the road.
“I could see him sliding by me and I could see his bike split in two and he disappeared,” she said. “I’m assuming he went down into the embankment.”
Andrea noted that CHP was addressing another call and was on the scene within moments of the incident.
Sad news. My prayers and thoughts are with the family.

A good friend of my son as well. Praying for comfort for all his family and friends. So sad. :( RIP Ethan.
For the person above who found it necessary to give a blow by blow report of what her friend saw, shame on you. That is private information to only be given to the police so they can inform the family if they wanted to know the details. Now everyone can know how horrible Ethan’s last few minutes on this earth were. This was someone’s beloved son and has nothing to do with you. Show some respect.
Ethan was my son. Thank you for standing up for him. God bless you.
My heart is broken. Rest in paradise my beloved Ethan.
