Deputies from the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station arrested an unidentified couple in Castaic on felony vandalism and misdemeanor drug and theft charges on Wednesday, station officials reported Friday.
Here’s more of the story from the station’s social media:
“On Wednesday, a Castaic man reported that he was the victim of a vehicle burglary. He went out to his minivan and discovered a shattered window.
“But then, upon closer inspection, he saw a mattress with two people sleeping on it.
“The victim noted that he did not have a mattress in his vehicle prior to this incident.
“Responding deputies observations confirmed the information reported. They found a male adult and female adult in the victim’s minivan with a mattress, along with narcotics paraphernalia.
“The couple, in their 30s, told deputies they removed the rear seat from the van and placed it in the bed of a nearby pickup truck and put in a mattress that they pulled from a dumpster.
“Deputies arrested the two suspects on charges of felony vandalism and misdemeanor charges of narcotics and theft.
“This incident remains an active investigation by Santa Clarita Valley (Sheriff’s) Station detectives.”
