In October, College of the Canyons will host its third annual College2Career Day event, providing students an opportunity to explore the multitude of career options potentially available to them.
Featuring a variety of hands-on activities and interactive demonstrations, the event will also provide both students and parents with valuable information about how the college can help them to get on the path to career success.
“College2Career Day is all about helping students make a connection between their education and a future career path,” said Audrey Green, COC associate vice president of academic affairs. “In order to make the best possible decision about their future, students and parents should both be fully informed about the type of training and education associated with a particular career choice.”
Throughout the day COC faculty members and representatives from the college’s various academic and career technical education (CTE) programs and other industry professionals, will be on hand to answer questions and help students explore the diverse types of careers that a college education can help prepare them for.
Attendees looking to get a jumpstart on the process of becoming a COC student will also be able to attend one of several information workshops taking place throughout the day.
More than 20 college departments are currently scheduled to participate in the event including: athletic training, welding, land surveying, computer networking, electronic systems, EMT, fire technology, culinary arts, water systems technology, photography, animation, paralegal and many more.
The College of the Canyons College2Career Day will take place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 13, in the Dr. Dianne G. Van Hook University Center, located on the college’s Valencia campus (University Center Drive entrance).
