The Friends of Santa Clarita Public Library will host three free author events at the new Old Town Newhall Library, located at 24500 Main Street. All events will begin at 7 p.m. in the Community Room. Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis.
Beginning Tuesday, Oct. 16, community members are invited to enjoy an evening of tasting and learning about the history of chocolate with Ed Engoron, co-founder of Choclatique. Award-winning author, Alan Brennert will discuss his writings and new book, Palisades Park, on Thursday, Nov. 8. On Tuesday, Dec. 4, New York Times best-selling author Dustin Thomason will debut his newest novel 12-21, a riveting thriller based on the apocalypse phenomenon.
“Author events offer the opportunity to engage in meaningful dialogue with current writers. It doesn’t matter if you’re a regular library visitor or not. Library events are a great way for community members to get involved with new specialty events and programming available at the new Old Town Newhall Library,” says Mayor Frank Ferry.
The state-of-the-art, 30,000 square foot Old Town Newhall Library includes a children’s library, teen room, more than 100 public use computers, a fireplace reading room, community meeting areas, outdoor courtyard and much more.
The Friends of the Library is an active group of community members who value libraries by volunteering, advocating and fundraising to meet the many needs of the Santa Clarita Public Library. They operate used book stores at each of the City’s three library branches and host various fundraising and cultural events throughout the year. All proceeds raised by the Friends of the Library go to support the Santa Clarita Public Library.
