Noted author Michele Singer Evans will sign her new book “Island of Zarada: The Larimar Quest” at Barnes & Noble in Valencia on Sunday, October 20 at 2 p.m., and the public is invited to join her.
Evans’ “Island of Zarada: The Larimar Quest” is a coming-of-age story of a young girl facing the challenges of becoming the leader of her people. An inspirational tale for young girls between 10 and 16 years of age, “Island of Zarada” is the first adventure about the Zaradians.
“Island of Zarada: The Larimar Quest” begins with the rivalry of two girls against the backdrop of a drought. The only hope against starvation are the precious red larimar stones, found on the distant island of Sarona, where daemons hide in their lair, waiting to kill anyone who dares intrude.
Miranda is slated to become the next Sultana, but Selexi, an evil schemer, wants her own daughter, Anaya, to be crowned. When Anaya challenges Miranda for the throne, the High Council sends them on a dangerous quest to determine who will rule.
In “Island of Zarada: The Larimar Quest,” Miranda sheds her childhood naiveté and develops a sense of responsibility for all her people, realizing her inner strength, ultimately fulfilling her duty to herself and to her people by becoming Sultana.
Evans is a Los Angeles resident who walks to the beat of a different drummer. She has a passion for just about anything creative: writing, music, screenwriting, painting and dancing. She is an entertainer and award-winning speaker. Her mission is to inspire girls to harness their inner strength and reach for their dreams.
“Island of Zarada: The Larimar Quest” is available online at bn.com, Amazon.com, major bookstores and Putnamandsmithpublishing.com.
The Valencia Barnes & Noble bookstore is located in the Creekside Place center, 23630 Valencia Blvd., Valencia 91355.
