emergency landing

hfhHabitat for Humanity of San Fernando – Santa Clarita Valleys is hosting its first Pink Dot event on Saturday, Oct. 29, to benefit both breast cancer support and local veteran housing. The benefit will be hosted at the Chatsworth ReStore at 9606 DeSoto Avenue in Chatsworth from 9am to 6pm.

As part of a series of local cancer support events entitled “31 Days of HOPE,” 50 percent of the gross sales generated at the Pink Dot event will aid Circle of Hope, a cancer-support nonprofit based in the Santa Clarita Valley.

The other 50 percent will aid the completion of Habitat’s Enriched Neighborhood in Santa Clarita, a project undertaken in collaboration with the California Department of Veterans Affairs. The project’s Phase 2 is currently wrapping with the 52nd homeowner closing escrow December 1st. Phase 3 will add an additional 24 units for a completed neighborhood of 78 homes for veterans.

Beyond the purchasing of home goods and improvement supplies, the Pink Dot event will include additional ways the public can support these causes, such as a kids craft workshop and the opportunity to win an outdoor KitchenAid grill.

The Pink Dot event marks the first time that a portion of revenue generated at the Chatsworth ReStore will benefit a cause beyond veteran housing and services. “As more and more women enter the military, issues of women’s health becomes a veteran issue,” says Sylvia Bardelli, Chatsworth ReStore Manager. “Our hope is that, together, we’re able to extend support to all women, including women veterans, through this important partnership with Circle of Hope.”

A social enterprise created to support the building of local, affordable housing for veterans and their families, the Chatsworth ReStore is 18,000 square feet of furniture, home goods, appliances and home improvement supplies offered for sale to the general public. The Chatsworth ReStore opened in 2012 and provides a large item pickup service across the Santa Clarita and San Fernando Valleys.

Anyone interested in donating items specifically for the Pink Dot benefit should visit humanityca.org/restore to schedule a large item pickup or call (818) 341-9928. The Chatsworth ReStore accepts smaller donation drop-offs during its regular operating hours on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, 9am to 6pm, Thursdays and Fridays, 8am to 8pm, Saturdays , 9am to 6pm, and Sundays, 11am to 5pm.

For additional information about the Pink Dot event, please contact the Chatsworth ReStore at (818) 341-9928 or restore@humanityca.org.
