The Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station reminds pet parents to protect their four-legged family members from effects of this week’s triple-digit heat wave.
We would like to tell you that we didn’t receive any calls about pets being left in hot cars Tuesday, but we did.
Even with temps in the triple digits, it was still happening. One dog was rescued by a deputy from a car near the mall.
If you have a pet, please be a responsible owner. They depend on you.
If you don’t have working A/C and you need to get to a cooling center, there are pet-friendly designated cooling centers listed below. They may be a little bit of a drive, but hey, isn’t your pet worth it?

The cooling centers that take pets listed in the valley are all city parks and senior centers. We have city parks and senior centers. Why don’t we make one a cooling center that accepts pets?
Yes, Santa Clarita should have at least one pet friendly cooling center. They should also identify ways folks can get to these centers if they do not have access to a private vehicle.
