[News Release] – The Friends of Santa Clarita Public Library is offering a special lineup of events this month for book enthusiasts of all ages to enjoy.
Through Saturday, April 12, community members can stop by the Valencia, Old Town Newhall and Canyon Country Jo Anne Darcy branches during business hours to browse a fantastic selection of books at the Santa Clarita Public Library Bag Sale. Participants can pick out their favorite titles, fill a commemorative book bag with their finds, and take home the books and bag for just $7. Additionally, each of the libraries will also accept donations of previously-owned books. All proceeds from the Bag Sale will benefit the Santa Clarita Public Library.
Then, on Tuesday, April 15, enjoy a great meal and support the Santa Clarita Public Library with the Dining for Dollars program at three local restaurants, including Egg Plantation, Newhall Refinery and Route 66 Classic Grill. All you have to do is stop by any of the three eateries during their respective business hours, mention the Friends of SCPL group and 15 percent of the total food bill will be donated to the Friends group for new materials and programming at the Santa Clarita Public Library.
Finally, on Thursday, April 17, 2014 beginning at 7:00 p.m., community members are invited to a special Author Visit with Alan Brennert at the Canyon Country library branch. Recognized as a best-selling novelist, Brennert will speak about publishing his newest adult fiction novel, Palisades Park, a spellbinding tale about a family of dreamers and their lives within the legendary Palisades Amusement Park. This is the second time Brennert has visited Santa Clarita and the Friends are proud to welcome him back. Light refreshments will be served and copies of the book will be available for purchase and signing.
