Two new partners and a new associate attorney have joined Poole & Shaffery, LLP, as the full-service law firm continues to build on its track record of providing top-quality professional service to its business and corporate clients.

Newly named Partner Jaion Chung is based in Poole & Shaffery’s Los Angeles office, where she oversees all aspects of civil litigation on behalf of business owners; manufacturers; distributors; trucking and bus companies; retailers and restaurant owners; and newly named Partner Kimberly L. Moore is based in the Walnut Creek office, where she focuses on construction law; transportation law and product liability.

Additionally, the firm has welcomed a new associate attorney, Andrew M. Sevanian, who will serve clients in the Business Counseling, Business Transactions and Intellectual Property departments.
“These changes make our legal team even more formidable,” said Partner John Shaffery, who co-founded the firm in 1998 with Partner David Poole. The firm has since grown in both size and areas of practice, with six offices throughout California, while still offering clients the individualized attention one would expect from a smaller firm.

“Ms. Chung and Ms. Moore have both proven to be excellent attorneys who are deeply committed to providing their clients the highest-quality representation, and they each have achieved phenomenal success in their individual areas of focus,” Shaffery said. “And, Mr. Sevanian brings extremely valuable skills and experience as the newest addition to our team of attorneys.”

Chung was recognized by Super Lawyers Magazine as a “Rising Star” in 2012, 2013 and 2014, and has obtained several major defense verdicts on behalf of clients over the past several years. She has successfully defended clients against chemical exposure claims, and her product liability practice also includes defending manufacturers, distributors and retailers in various industries.

She serves on the Diversity in the Profession Committee of the Los Angeles County Bar Association, and participates in programs designed to educate junior high and high school students about the judicial system.

Moore graduated magna cum laude from the University of Southern California with a bachelor’s degree in nursing, and earned her juris doctor degree from the King School of Law at the University of California, Davis. She applies her previous nursing experience when evaluating claimed injuries and taking and defending medical expert witness depositions.

The firm’s newest Northern California partner focuses mostly on representing developers, general contractors, product manufacturers and suppliers, trucking companies and trade contractors.

Sevanian, based in the firm’s Los Angeles office, focuses on general business and corporate law as well as trademark law. He graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in communication and cinema-television from USC, then earned his juris doctor degree from Hofstra University School of Law.

Before launching his legal career, Sevanian worked in the film industry at DreamWorks and Paramount Pictures, which helped him develop a deep understanding of the motion picture industry, intellectual property, contracts and the laws of business.
