1910 - Newhall (Auto) Tunnel opens, bypassing Beale's Cut [story]
Newhall Tunnel

[Princess, Santa Clarita] – Fresh off the presses, Princess Cruises has just published its Europe cruise brochure for 2013 to help passengers find their best adventure during the season, whether they’re headed to the scenic Baltic Sea, British Isles or the iconic ports of the Mediterranean.

Highlighting the program is the launch of the new Royal Princess, which will debut with a schedule of Mediterranean cruises. The brochure includes a full summary of the ship’s unique features as well as all of the cruise choices available during the maiden season.

Princess will have its youngest fleet ever in the region next year, with seven ships plying European waters, offering 60 itineraries on 124 departures between April and December, 2013.

Real passenger photos and quotes are used throughout the brochure for the first time, adding a personal perspective on the cruise destinations, from humorously “holding up” the Leaning Tower of Pisa to overlooking the picturesque Loch Ness in Scotland. Readers can travel along with passengers who have sailed before them, giving them a feeling for the images that may appear in their own photo albums someday.

In addition to Royal Princess, cruise choices outlined in the brochure include:

Mediterranean – Princess’ classic itineraries – Grand Mediterranean and Greek Isles – are joined by three new seven-day Mediterranean routes sailing from Venice, Athens or Rome, that can be combined into 14- or 21-day voyages. And with 13 cruises aboard Pacific Princess, Princess remains the leader in Holy Land departures, including opportunities for overland exploration in Israel and Egypt.

Baltic Sea – Three unique itineraries offer more choices than ever for sailings in the Baltic Sea, including visits to intriguing ports in Scandinavia and Russia. Emerald Princess will sail on the line’s 11-day roundtrip voyage from Copenhagen, while Ocean Princess and Crown Princess will offer 14-day itineraries. Ocean Princess’ Scandinavia & Russia Collection route features some unique ports of call, including Riga in Latvia and Klaipeda in Lithuania. All three options include the 2-day Experience in St. Petersburg for more time in this historic Russian city.

Northern Europe – Caribbean Princess and Crown Princess will offer cruises to the northern reaches, including the Norwegian Fjords, Iceland and Greenland. Ocean Princess will debut a new 14-day Iceland & Norway itinerary that visits off-the-beaten-path ports in Iceland, as well as a maiden call to Klaksvik in the Faroe Islands.

British Isles – Princess will offer more departures on British Isles sailings with two itinerary options – a 12-day route on Caribbean Princess from Southampton and an eight-day option from Dover aboard Ocean Princess. Six of these departures will include the opportunity to attend the famed Military Tattoo in Edinburgh, Scotland.

Black Sea – Pacific Princess will offer more departures on the Black Sea route, for a total of three cruises on this intriguing itinerary which includes a 2-day Experience in Istanbul.

In addition, the brochure offers added information about available shore excursions, as well as a new “How to Plan Your Cruise in 10 Easy Steps” page.

Copies of the new brochure are available from travel agents or can be ordered from Princess Cruises. A digital version of the brochure is available at http://www.nxtbook.com/nxtbooks/princess/europe2013.
