Greg Pursley

The NASCAR K&N Pro Series West is in Sonoma this weekend and Canyon High graduate Greg Pursley is looking for his first win on the road course in Northern California.

He was fourth in last year’s West Series race in Sonoma, but winning has been a challenge for the reigning West Series champion.

NASCAR Sprint Cup Series regulars often enter the West Series race. Joey Logano won last year. David Gilliland is among the entrants in this year’s West Series race.

Pursley has won two West Series races so far this season and is second in the West Series standings behind Gene Price Motorsports teammate Dylan Kwasniewski.

The race in Sonoma is set for Saturday.

The US Olympic track and field trials begin today in Eugene, Ore., with Santa Clarita’s Allyson Felix trying to qualify in two events for the London Summer Games. She is competing in the 100 and 200 and has decided to skip the 400, according to reports.

Felix won silver medals in the 200 in the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing and in 2004 in Athens, Greece. She also won a gold medal on the 4×400 meter relay team in Beijing.

In the NBA Finals, the Miami Heat won the title in convincing fashion, 121-106, against the Oklahoma City Thunder. The Heat won the series in five games. LeBron James recorded a triple-double with 26 points, 13 assists and 11 rebounds.

Mike Miller of the Heat hit seven 3-pointers and scored 24 points.

The Heat won their second NBA championship in franchise history. James won his first and teammate Dwyane Wade won his second.

In baseball, the Dodgers were swept by the lowly Oakland A’s after losing, 4-1, in the final game of a three-game series.

The Dodgers managed only two runs in three games against the A’s and have lost three games in a row.

They will try to snap their losing streak against the Angels tonight in Anaheim.

Chris Capuano starts for the Dodgers. The Angels counter with Dan Haren.

Listen to the game tonight on AM 1220, KHTS. First pitch is at 7:05 p.m.
