Thane Ringler
Thane Ringler from The Master’s College is tied for 19th place at the midway point of the four-day NAIA Men’s Golf National Championship in Oregon.
He shot a 2-over 74 on the second day of the tournament and is 5-over after two rounds at the Creekside Golf Course in Salem.
Ringler is 11 shots behind Brandon Meltzer from Johnson and Wales University. The tournament continues today and ends on Friday.
In college track and field, seven athletes from The Master’s College are competing in the NAIA Outdoor National Championships at Wesleyan University in Indiana.
John Gilbertson and Anthony Pizzo are in the 5,000-meter race. Gilbertson won the Golden State Athletic Conference championship in the 5,000 and holds the school record in the race at 13 minutes, 56.56 seconds.
Josiah Downer and Camden McAlister are competing in the marathon. Mathew Crichton and David Eller are in the 3,000 steeplechase.
Ayla Draper is the only woman from The Master’s College in the national championships. She is competing in the 400 hurdles.
In auto racing, Bryan Herta Autosport has a new driver for its Firestone Indy Lights team in the Freedom 100 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
Anders Krohn, a driver from Norway known as the Viking, will be in the team’s No. 28 entry for the Indy Lights race on Friday.
Krohn has been racing in the Star Mazda Series for the past two years and was the rookie of the year in the F2000 Series in 2008.
In the NHL playoffs, the New Jersey Devils beat the New York Rangers, 5-3, and are one win away from reaching the Stanley Cup final.
The Devils lead the Eastern Conference finals, 3-2. The winner of the Eastern Conference will play the Kings in the Stanley Cup final.
